There is no denying that fun couple Kate and Scott (and their photographer Renee) have a wicked sense of humour. They created a totally personal wedding in Newcastle with a stunning purple colour scheme and a drop-dead gorgeous Bride. The lollipops are too much fun!
Couple: Kate and Scott
Date: 12th December, 2009
Location: Newcastle, NSW.
Photography: Renee Bell, [indulge] by NFE Design. I chose Renee from [indulge] by NFE Design because I wanted it all – fun, classy, different, creative, arty, inspiring and most of all a photographer who I clicked with and who had hundreds of ideas of what would look good! I wanted someone who would make the experience easy from start to finish. Renee far exceeded my expectations and it was an absolute privilege to work with her!
Gown: Valencia dress by Barbara Calabro.
Shoes: I love billy purple shoes to match the Bridesmaid dresses from Palazzo, Belmont, NSW.
Suit: Man to Man.
Wedding Party: Four Bridesmaids wore dresses by Mr K in the same colour (Passion) but all chose a dress style that suited them. We also had four groomsmen, three flower girls and three page boys.
Accessories: Bridesmaids wore accessories from Diva. The Bride’s jewellery was from David Jones.
Hair: Lisa at Blue Lotus Salon.
Makeup: Shannon Rosser from Napoleon.
Flowers: Peter Herd. I let the florist choose what he thought would work!
Ceremony: Shepherds Hill, Newcastle, NSW. We chose Shepherds Hill because it overlooked the beach and was a nice relaxed location.
Celebrant: Katie Porritt. We chose Katie because she was fun and let us have fun with the ceremony. We had a bagpiper (Shannon Martin) who piped us down the aisle for something a bit different. We had seven little kids in the ceremony including two sets of twins!
Reception: Noah’s On The Beach, Newcastle, NSW. Noah’s On The Beach is a gorgeous venue that overlooks Newcastle Beach. Noah’s was chosen because Scott proposed across the road on Newcastle Beach and we fell in love with the view and amazing food. The service was outstanding and the food divine! Instead of table names we used words such as “Love”, “Inspire”, and “Create” and sat people at the table name that suited them. I run an embroidery company and embroidered the guests names on a board as the seating chart.
Music: Anthony from Millenium DJs was great. We organised everything online.
Decoration: Unique, funky and FUN! We wanted people to walk in and just know it was “our” wedding. We made our own decorations which included glass candles holders filled with purple potpourri and candles. We also provided disposable cameras for each table for the guests to take photos.
Stationery: We made our own invitations.
Cake: The cake was made by Margaret who makes cakes from home and the flowers were from Peter Herd. The cake was a white chocolate mud cake with caramel oil.
Transport: Black stretch Hummer from H2 Hunter Hummers.
Budget Tip: I bought things throughout the year leading up to the wedding so that I didn’t get hit with huge expenses at the end.
Handmade Tip: We made our own invitations. Also spray painted the table names.
I wish: … that we could do it all again! I had the best day of my life! It was everything I had ever wanted and more. It was fun and totally “us”.
Something Special: We had a photo booth for guests to take some CRAZY photos at the reception. It was a huge hit! And instead of the traditional favours we made a donation to Cancer Council Australia. We bought daffodil pins and gave them to all the guests in memory of those who have battled cancer.
