Chantelle and Reid’s Rustic French-Themed Ballina Byron Hinterland Wedding

Chantelle and Reid’s breathtakingly beautiful wedding was set in the sweeping Byron Bay/Ballina hinterland in Dalwood (via Alstonville, NSW). The theme was Rustic French with a relaxed family dinner atmosphere with stylist and magazine editor Chantelle inspired by the dinner scene from the movie Chocolat. Everything about this intimate wedding, from the blue hydrangeas to the very personal handmade touches are infused with romance and love. Congratulations Chatelle and Reid on your special, and inspiring day.

Couple: Chantelle and Reid
Date: 7th March, 2010
LocationDeux Belettes, Dalwood, NSW.
Photography: Natalie McComas. Our vision for our wedding day was captured by Natalie in the most beautiful and perfect way. She understood the feeling and look we were aiming to achieve and documented the day for what it was, capturing the emotion and happiness in everyone’s faces and all the small details we worked so hard in creating. Both being shy, her friendly and warm personality helped keep us relaxed and comfortable and her being there contributed to how much we enjoyed the day. We couldn’t have asked a more talented and passionate person to take photos of our day…. Still in awe.

Gown: Silk Chiffon ruffle strapless gown in soft ivory by Lisa Ho.

Shoes: Pedro Garcia, purchased from Net-A-Porter.

Suit: Hugo Boss.

Hair & Makeup: French braids and worn down. Hair and makeup done by Jane Smith Bridal, Coorabell, NSW.

Flowers: Rustic mixture of blue Hydrangeas and Dusty Miller by Flowers on the Run, Byron Bay, NSW.

Ceremony & reception: Deux Belettes, Dalwood, NSW. Driving into the property of Deux Belettes it felt really special and unique. The building was built completely by the owners and it feels like you are in the middle of France. It suited both of needs of wanting to be married somewhere secluded and very special and unique.

Music: The Cape Byron String Quartet, Bryon Bay, NSW.

Decoration: A lot of the decorations I did myself – photos pegged to a line strung from the ceiling, homemade jam bottled and placed at each seat to enjoy the following morning for breakfast, paper bags filled with paper confetti, linen bags sewn with a lomo camera, our story printed on fine paper and a handkerchief inside, a jar of sparklers and matches covered in coordinating fabric. We also supplied the vases and jars that were filled by the florist.

Stationery: Designed by Chantelle and printed on fine paper, then inserted into hand sewn pouches.

Cake: Two-tier cake, half white chocolate and half lemon luscious with white fondant icing by The Welsh Lady, Rosalie, QLD.

Caterer: Being food lovers, we wanted the menu to be perfect. Your Gourmet, Bangalow, NSW,  did an amazing job and the food was excellent.

Budget Tip: Keeping it small with just family definitely helped. Also keeping it simple.
