Stunning couple Bree and Josh chose a black and white theme for their elegant wedding on the Gold Coast. I love Bree’s use of vintage touches throughout the wedding; every aspect from the simple ivory roses, to the chic mens suits to the divine jewellery, exudes class. And lucky Bridesmaids – those champagne knee-length dresses are a knockout. Thank you Bree for sharing your special day with us.
Couple: Bree and Josh
Date: 11th December, 2009
Location: Gold Coast, Queensland.
Photography: Josh at White Pearl Photography.

Gown: Chantilly International (37 Swanston St, Melbourne, VIC 3000, ph: (03) 96397400).
Suit: Formal Wear of Melbourne.
Wedding Party: The three groomsmen wore suits from Formal Wear of Melbourne. The three bridesmaids wore dresses from Out with Evie by Cooper St.
Accessories: Vintage hairpiece from Sydney Road, Melbourne, VIC. Pandora bracelet given to me as a wedding gift from Josh. Pavé set drop earrings from Stephanie Browne. Bridesmaids wore matching pavé set studs. Josh wore a handmade silver bracelet which was made to match his wedding band that I gave him as a gift. Bridesmaids used black lace fans as accessories for photos.
Hair: Suzi Makeup Artist, Gold Coast, QLD.
Makeup: Suzi Makeup Artist, Gold Coast, QLD.
Flowers: Emanuel ivory roses with blackberries amongst the bunch, wrapped in black lace finished with a bow. Our flowergirl carried a single ivory rose wrapped in black lace. The flowers were from Stylish Stamens, Burleigh Heads, QLD.
Ceremony: St Andrews Chapel, Robina Woods Golf Course, Gold Coast Robina, QLD. We fell in love with the chapel as soon as we saw it – it was so quaint and just fit with our style beautifully. The celebrant was my Uncle, Ian Porter.
Reception: Ocean View Room at the North Burleigh Surf Lifesaving Club, Miami, QLD. We loved the view of the beach right from the balcony of the Ocean View room. We had a stand-up buffet which included curries, a selection of salads, sushi, finger food, kids food etc. A dear friend lent us her old style chaise lounge with matching small chairs which we used as the ‘Bridal Party Area’ which suited our theme perfectly. We went for a completely different cocktail set-up with ottomans and high bars, as well as a kids area with toys/games. It was an absolute hit and had a great relaxed feel.
Decoration: Julie from Table Jewels organised our large table centrepieces and ottomans. My Bridesmaids and Mum decorated the glass candle holders that I purchased with lace and ribbon. Kylie from Swirl Events, Gold Coast, QLD (ph: 0418 731 767) took care of our chair covers/sashes.
Stationery: Our graphic designer Groomsmen worked with us to design our invites for both our wedding and engagement party.
Cake: Chocolate mud cake, by Kylie at Swirl Events, Gold Coast, QLD (ph: 0418 731 767).
Transport: 1920′s Hupmobiles from Gold Coast Vintage Luxury Cars.
Budget Tip: Stick to your budget! if you go over-budget on one thing that is especially important to you, such as we did on photography and rings, make sure you are able to balance it out somewhere else. Be realistic.
Handmade Tip: I had my Mum’s veil altered by my dressmaker so that I could use it. My closest friends helped to paint a huge canvas black and we had the guests sign it in white marker with a special note for us.
I wish: … that my Grandparents could have been there!
Something Special: My two brothers walked me down the aisle which was very special for me. On a whim on the morning of our wedding I borrowed my Mum’s framed photograph of my Nana and Gramps on their wedding day, and displayed it on our gift table. I did a special father/daughter dance with my Dad at the reception which we had lessons for and rehearsed in the months coming up to the wedding.

Love the fans (I might incorporate fans as wedding programs). Also the cake is very unique!
I love your bridesmaid dresses – do you know if they still sell them, or what collection they were from?
