Jessica and David’s intimate wedding brought together four generations to celebrate the love between this sweet couple. The vintage styling of their special day is super hip; don’t you just love Jessica’s cocktail-length gown. I could go on and on about this amazing wedding, but I particularly love the dreamy flowers and that cake topper is simply darling.
Couple: Jessica and David
Date: 20th December, 2009
Location: Concord Golf Club, Sydney, NSW.
Photography: The amazing Marzena Wasilewska. For more images from Jessica and David’s wedding, check out Marzena’s blog.
Gown: Grandma Takes A Trip (263 Crown Street, Surry Hills, NSW 2010, (02) 9356 3322).
Shoes: Panache Bridal Shoes (level 2, 428 George street, (02)9232 3808).
Suit: Roger David.
Wedding Party: My sister as Bridesmaid wore a dress from Coco Repose (Jessica Guthrie, 82 Fitzroy St, Surry Hills, NSW 2010, (02) 9356 4804). The Best Man wore one of his own suits.
Accessories: I wore my own peal earrings and a pearl ring that Dave gave me years ago. I kept it very minimal.
Hair: Pixie Roberts (boogiebopdames@optusnet.com.au, 0449 102 491).
Makeup: Pixie Roberts (boogiebopdames@optusnet.com.au, 0449 102 491).
Flowers: Homebush Flowers, Natasha Bojkovska (u1/31 rochester street, Homebush, NSW, 2140, 0433 154 777).
Ceremony: Concord Golf Club, Sydney, NSW. Our wedding celebrant was Rob Hughes (Oatley, NSW, (02) 9579 6173 or 0416 067 285, robhughes29@yahoo.com).
Reception: Concord Golf Club, Sydney, NSW. We wanted a venue that worked for both the ceremony and reception. The grounds were beautiful and the staff extremely helpful. The golf club organised all of the minor details. We served canapés and had no assigned seating for guests. Guests were free to sit inside, or at the tables outside overlooking the grounds.
Stationery: The save the date cards were ordered online from Pink Frosting. The invitations were designed and made by the Bride’s brother-in-law.
Cake: Rainbow Cake Shop (2 Churchill Ave, Strathfield, NSW, 2135, (02) 9746 6570).
Transport: I was driven to venue by my brother in my parent’s car. I went early for some photos so we did not really need to hire cars specially.
Budget Tip:
* We had the ceremony and reception at the one venue.
* Using an ipod instead of hiring a DJ.
* We opted for a plainly iced cake with no decorative features and instead we decorated with fresh flowers.
* We only invited 60 people. By keeping the numbers down we were able to have more of a party instead of a wedding reception which is what we both wanted.
* My dress was pre-loved. It once had long sleeves, more lace in the back and was in need of a soak. With a few fittings and a new frilly underskirt it was able to have a new lease on life. For me it was like nothing I could find in a bridal shop.
Handmade tips: We gave Christmas puddings as our gifts to guests. Being close to Christmas we thought this was the most appropriate gift. My mum found some nice fabric and we used that to wrap the puddings in, we printed small tags ourselves that gave the guests instructions for how long to heat the puddings that were also a thankyou message for coming.
I Wish: I wish that we could do it again, loved the whole day and would love another chance to wear my dress.
Something Special: We would not change a thing. We loved the relaxed feel of the reception and our guests said that they really had a great time as it was intimate and not too formal. Our Best Man Brian made a special trip from New York to be with us and our dear friend Jonathan came all the way from Paris which made it all the more special, so thanks to them both.

The flowers are lovely, I like the neutrals with the white. It looks sophisticated and subtle. I was also surprised to hear how budget conscious the couple was. It didn’t have the look of a low cost wedding. Great job!
